European bike challenge for Ipswich food bank charity FIND

Four friends have teamed up to tackle a 300-mile cycle ride from Amsterdam to Paris over the May bank holiday weekend (4th - 7th May 2019) in aid of local food bank charity FIND (Families in Need).

Will, Johnny and Simon practising for the European bike challenge from Amsterdam to Paris over the 4th – 7th May bank holiday weekend.

Will Hawker, Johnny Catchpole and James Eminson, who are former students of St Joseph’s College and friend Simon Bates are aiming to cycle 100 miles a day over the bank holiday weekend in a sponsored challenge in aid of FIND.

This will not be the first big cycle ride for Will, Johnny and Simon, having cycled from London to Paris via Dunkirk and Paris to La Rochelle in previous years for charity.

For James Eminson, this will be his first big ride, but FIND is a charity close to James’ heart and he wanted to get involved and take on this 300 mile challenge because “I am excited to experience the challenge which a 100-mile cycle ride puts you through. Having heard all the horrors that go with it and feeling mildly anxious about the distance, I haven’t been put off, and knowing I will raise money for FIND spurs me on. If anything, I can’t wait for it to begin!”

Will Hawker says: “FIND provides food parcels to those in need in and around the Ipswich area. This incredible work makes a real difference to people in poverty and whilst I can’t quite comprehend the idea of getting back in the saddle again, I am proud to be supporting the work this incredible group of people do in Suffolk.”

James adds, “Demand has increased enormously in the last twelve months so your support will make a huge difference to people’s lives. We appreciate every donation made and when our trip begins your donations will keep us going as we count down the miles to Paris!”
